Matthew 24:38‭-‬39 NIV

17th August 2020

For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

After Noah warned the people about the end of the world and no one took heed, they continued with their normal lives. He Kept on building the ark as God instructed him.

Before the destruction of the world in the days of Noah, people did not know rain as we do today. God watered the earth from the ground so that rain did not come from above. You can therefore imagine that many people were wondering what noah was talking about rain.

When Noah finished the work, He entered the ark and then the rain came then, there was destruction as He had said. All the people were destroyed because they did not listen to Noah.

The same thing is happening in our time. Everybody is busy with their own things and there is less attention on the message that Jesus is coming again. Our today’s verse finishes by saying this is how the coming of Jesus will be.

It is important we remember that the coming of Jesus is closer than it was yesterday. Do not live as if you are here on earth permanently. You are temporarily here because we have our permanent home in heaven.

As you continue with life. Keep this in your mind and alway remain in touch in Jesus continually by walking in the Spirit in Jesus name.

Lord, help me not to be caught up in the things of this world to forget that one day you’ll come for the church. Teach me to number my days in Jesus name. AMEN

1 John 4:4 NIV

18th August 2020

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

The world and it’s systems presents itself as more superior than us who are children of God. This is just but a deception of the devil who loves to intimidate God’s children.

The unfortunate thing is that many Christians out of fear think that they are inferior to the systems of the world and satanic schemes. That is not true, we are superior to all the systems of the world and the powers of darkness.

It is important to know what the John means when he talks of the one in us. Notice the bible says, He is in us already. We are born of Him and we have the capacity within us to overcome and subdue the powers of darkness.

We have to be alert and equipped always with such truth as children of God. In Jesus Christ, We have what the world can never afford.

This is how we overcome sicknesses and diseases, demonic oppressions, sin, bitterness, poverty and anything that is sponsored of the devil.

Do not walk as a victim of circumstances around you. God has already equipped you. You have the name of Jesus, which is the name above all names and the Spirit of God who abides with you forever as a child of God.

Make use of all this wealth already within you. Learn to declare in the name of Jesus in response to the word of God. 1 Peter 2:9 the last part says, ‘He has taken us out of darkness into His marvellous light’.

Don’t allow this word to be a story to tell, but put it to work through prayer and declarations by your mouth. Refuse to be a victim because victory is yours already in Jesus name.

Thank you Jesus that am not hopeless in this life. I have victory everywhere and in everything I do in Jesus name. AMEN

Matthew 25:13 NIV

19th August 2020

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

One thing is certain, that Jesus is coming back just as He promised. Man has not been given to know the time when Jesus is coming, but he has been equipped to keep watching as the day comes.

Despite all that is happening in the world, there should be no distraction to cause the children of God from being ready when Jesus comes.

This calls for us as believers to keep walking intimately with Jesus on a daily basis and not allowing ourselves to lose focus on Him. Remember Jesus coming for the church without any spot and blemish (see. Eph 5:27).

Paul gives us an example of how to watch as we wait for the day of the Lord. In 2 Tim 4:7 he says ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith’.

This is the best way to keep focused as we wait for the coming of the King. Keep the fire burning continually through prayer and reading the word and as you serve Him faithfully.

Do not allow distractions and unnecessary religious practices that can easily entangle you in Jesus name.

Lord help me to be focused even as the day of your coming draws near in Jesus name. AMEN

Ephesians 2:8‭-‬10 NIV

20th August 2020

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

The origin of salvation we have in Christ is not by human opinion or ideology but divinely given by God through Jesus. In other words, the foundation of our new birth is Spiritual not just carnal.

Once you’re born again, you receive the life of Christ in you by the Holy Spirit. This means then, that you begin to function from the reality of the Spirit and not human terms.

Some Christians who are already born again, fail to function in power because they apply human wisdom in what ought to be divine. This is why the Holy Spirit is necessary for anyone who is born again.

Notice from our today’s verse, that it is in the context of salvation that God helps us to fulfill what He planned for us a long time ago. This is revealed by the Holy Spirit to the Children of God.

Since you never did anything for your salvation, you need to remain in constant touch and communion with the Spirit. This is how we who are born again remain relevant Spiritually.

May the Lord help you today not to be caught up in humanistic practice but to walk in the Spirit, now that you are born of God. By walking in the Spirit the life of God you received is made manifest in every area of your life. This is how you become victorious in every way in Jesus name (1John 5:4).

Lord cause me to be in constant communion with the Holy Spirit and not to function under human wisdom as your child in Jesus name. AMEN

Matthew 26:9‭-‬10 NIV

21st August 2020

“This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.” Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me.

This is the woman who came to pour alabaster oil on Jesus. It was a precious and expensive perfume that made the disciples be offended on how it was being used.

The disciples thought if the alabaster oil was sold the money would be used to help the poor. They did not know that what the woman was doing had a Spiritual significance in preparing the body of Jesus for burial.

The judgment of the disciples was carnal. They were not sensitive Spiritually to know what Jesus knew about what the woman was doing.

Sometimes we make Judgements the same way the disciples did. The desire of God is that we do and see things the way He sees and that is why He has given us His Spirit. Sometimes we make decisions that are flesh inspired and fight or oppose what is of God.

May the Lord flood the eyes of your heart with light so that you may know what is of Him by the Spirit in Jesus name.

Lord open my eyes of the Spirit that I may see as you see and do everything as you lead me in Jesus name.

Matthew 26:63‭-‬65 NIV

24th August 2020

The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.” “You have said so,” Jesus replied. “But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses?

There are many lessons, we can learn from the high priest in his dealing with Jesus at this time. Of course, what was happening was the fulfilment of prophecy but how comes the high priest was so blinded.

He was a religious leader who actually used to entered the holy of holies once a year to offer sacrifice for the people to God yet he’s so blinded to see that Jesus is the Messiah, son of God. Jesus was actually his boss.

He was a man blinded by religion. Religion keeps people busy for God without any revelation of who He is. There are so many people today caught up in this religious Spirit like the high priest. A lot is done for God but less relationship is seen.

The ministry of the Holy Spirit and prayer is very important in the life of a Christian. The two are key to enhancing our relationship with God. This is what the high priest was missing.

Many church gatherings have less time for prayer and basically allowing the ministry of the Holy Spirit. This has turned many to be religious in their dealing with God.

You need to make a choice today not to allow religion to control you. Yield to the Holy Spirit and be given to the ministry of prayer because by that you enhance your interaction with God.

Lord help me not to be a religious person. Help me to be given to the Holy Spirit and the ministry of prayer. AMEN

Matthew 28:18 NIV

25th August 2020

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Some days before Jesus said these words one would have thought Pilate, Herod together with leaders of religious law had the final say. Pilate actually went ahead to release Barabbas from prison and gave Jesus over for crucifixion in his authority as the governor (see Mat 27:17)

When Jesus was buried, His tomb was heavenly guarded because He said on the third day He will come back to life. Sure enough despite all that they did He came back to life and no one could stop Him including the many armed soldiers guarding the tomb see Mat 27:65).

After the resurrection, Jesus made this statement of fact and a present-day reality that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. Pilate, Herod, leaders of religious law, death, or anything in heaven and earth are all under the authority of Jesus.

It is important for you as a child of God to know that this power and authority is expressed to the world through you. We have been sent forth to demonstrate this power all over the world by our Lord Jesus.

We are His body and partakers of His divine nature (see 2 Peter 1:4). In His name, we, cast out devils, heal the sick, speak in new tongues, and many more (see Mark 16:16-18). Know what you have as a child of God and use it for His glory.

Do not be intimidated by anything: whether government, pandemics, demons, sickness, or any situation. This authority is given to us and as we use it we will experience the shalom of God in every way in Jesus name. AMEN

Thank you Jesus for giving us to function within the power and authority in you. Teach me by the Holy Spirit to operate in this power and not to be intimidated in any way in Jesus name. AMEN

A HUNGER FOR GOD: with Pst. Patrick Maiyo

“One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.”

My favorite person in all the history of mankind whether in or out of the Bible (apart from Jesus of course) is King David. In my private meditations, I usually refer to him as my “first love”. And I mean it. I love this man (I have a huge man-crush on him) more than any other person in history. After him, outside the Bible my deep love and admiration goes to Smith Wigglesworth.

Now why am I mentioning both these men? They loved Jesus more than anything, even ministry. They were men after God’s own heart. When I die (if I’m not alive during the rapture) I would be honoured if my tombstone read “Here lies the body, the earthly tent of Patrick Maiyo, a man after God’s own heart.” I could care less about anything else up to and including the ministry God has for me. I desire fellowship and intimacy with Jesus more than anything. That’s the thing though, when you seek God’s Kingdom first and His righteousness, all these other things will be added to you. Abiding in the presence of Jesus results in abundant fruitfulness (John 15:4-5) and so if I place my relationship with Him as being first, I will fulfil all that He has for me in this short life on earth.

The Apostle Paul reminded the Colossian church that Jesus was to have the pre-eminence in their lives (Colossians 1:18).

Jesus, as the risen Lord told the Apostle John to warn the Ephesians because even though they were caught up in much service for God, they had forsaken He who is their first love (Revelations 2:1-4). Jesus told Martha who was caught up in much service to do the one needful thing which her sister May had found (which could not be taken away from her), to seat at His feet (Luke 10:38-42).

Moses a man deeply intimate with God (he spent over 80 days alone with God) said of Yahweh that He “is our life and the length of our days.” Oh, to have blessed fellowship and communion with Jesus! Psalm 103:6 speaking of God says that He made His ways known unto Moses. I want this exclusivity. A personal and intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit that marks you out in a generation.

Enoch and Noah are both described as having walked with God. Walking with God at times can be a lonely walk as seen in the case of Elijah and John the Baptist but its well worth the cost. Let me ask you my friend; Are you hungry for God? More than anybody or anything else? Do you desire Him? Long for Him? Spend special time with Him every day? To talk to Him, praise Him, worship Him, and gaze into His loveliness and the beauty of His holiness? Well, it’s time to get our priorities straight. We can do this through Christ who strengthens us.

“Lord, help me to be focused on one thing alone which is to seek you with all my heart. I desire above all things to be a man/woman after your very own heart. Break my heart for what breaks yours. AMEN.”

1 Corinthians 1:25

For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom,

Have you ever taken time to meditate on God’s wisdom? Many times we focus on human wisdom that is corrupted and full of limitations.

Our today’s verse talks about God’s wisdom and strength. I like the way Paul puts it: the foolishness of God being wiser than man and His weakness stronger that man. Man has no capacity to compete with God in any way.

In the era we are living in, there is a lot of information and through technology, many people both young and are old have been exposed. Out of the information, man has access to, including education, many people think they are wise which is not true. Look at the countries we live in.

Every time man has tried to run his affairs in human wisdom, predicaments keep rising. Man is supposed to rely on God who is the beginner and owner of everything and by His wisdom, we live and shine everywhere.

The moment we begin to run our lives with human wisdom which is corrupted, the outcome of everything becomes corrupted too. You realize there are chaos and a lot of disorder everywhere. Learn to depend on God in everything despite your experience and education levels.

Do not think God has no idea about investments, education, the choice you need to make. Take time in prayer and enquire of the Lord. Be led by the Spirit in every single step of your life. Be careful not to do things in this life the way you want, but the way the Holy Spirit wants. Birth all things in prayer.

Remember the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (see proverbs 9:10). Do not be quick to enquire of man’s wisdom, it is a corrupted one. God has the best and it is available for whoever wants it. By it, you will always be winning everywhere in Jesus.

Lord, I thank you for your divine wisdom. I choose to rely and depend on it everywhere in my life in Jesus name. AMEN

1 Corinthians 2:1 NIV

31st August 2020

And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.

I love the way Paul exhorts God’s wisdom above any other and more so in his sharing of the gospel. Relying on God’s wisdom makes his gospel powerful and life-changing.

I have learned that when we learn to depend on God’s wisdom we become very effective everywhere and in everything we are doing.

Many times we try to be independent of God and become wise in our own eyes. That is why so many people are frustrated today.

You may have a lot of experience in what you do, or you are qualified by all standards, it doesn’t mean God is not necessary for what you do.

Remember God is the creator of everything including you and all you do. Out of His wisdom He created and holds everything together. You need His kind of wisdom to do all He made you to do.

Paul was one of the most learned people in his time. It was possible for him to bank on the wisdom he had acquired, but he did all He did by God’s kind of wisdom.

Learn to do all you do the way of God. Learn not to be wise in your own eyes, but depend on God always. You’ll always win in Jesus name.

Father, I cannot depend on myself for anything, but give me your divine wisdom in all I do in Jesus name. AMEN

1 Corinthians 3:21 KJV

1st September 2020

Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;

The greatest thing we have received through Christ is access. Through the death and the resurrection of Christ we have access to eternal life.

Eternal life is the life of God. That is why we receive it when we get born again. To be born again is to be born of God. That is why we are called children of God after we are born again.

Just as Jesus is the son of God, we are made to become His sons along with Jesus. That is why we identify with Jesus as Christians who are born again. We are actually seated with Him in the heavenly places (see Ephesians 2:6).

Since all things belong to Jesus (see Matthew 11:27), then we have been given access to all things through Jesus. Paul says “all things are yours”. In other words in Jesus we have everything. The access is granted.

This is the reason why we don’t glory in man because that is vain hope and satanic deception. As we give ourselves to God through prayer and the word we access all that belong to us in Christ.

May the Lord cause you to see in this new month of September by the Holy Spirit. All that you need for this life exist in Christ through His word. May you find access and favor everywhere you are and you’ll go in this month in Jesus name.

Thank you Jesus because in you I have all things. I declare divine access of all that is mine in Christ Jesus in this new month in Jesus name. AMEN

Acts 13:2 NKJV

2nd September 2020

As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

Ministry is good and it is important to encourage many believers to be part of it. It is important again to understand ministry in two ways: the first one is ministry of God to the people and ministry to God directly.

Many people know the ministry of God to the people but they pay less attention to the ministry to the Lord. This is purely the ministry of prayer and worship to God.

In our today’s verse, it says ‘as they ministered to the Lord’, in the NIV it says ‘as they were worshiping the Lord and fasting’. This God-focused ministry.

It is within this God-focused ministry where the Holy Spirit Spoke on what Paul and Barnabas were set apart to do. Their focus on God brought clarity in what God had called them to do.

God-focused ministry is actually paying attention to God through prayer and fasting. As we do this we easily find God’s will both individually and as a people of God.

God’s direction for your life cannot come from your mind or your friends, it can only come from Him through the Holy Spirit. Learn to give God your attention as the apostles did and your life will be with such clarity and order.

Do not be so much of a people-centered person. Be God-centered and then you will serve men better. As you remain focused on Him, He will order your steps for: ministry, family, education, career, friends, and all other choices you ought to make.

Your success and prosperity in all you do are only in paying attention to God and there is no short cut. Be given to Him through the ministry of worship to God in prayer and even fasting. As you focus on Him, He will guide you to the right place, the right thing, the right people, and your life will be full of order and advancement.

Lord give me the grace to focus on you and to be a God-centered person. As I focus on you, may there direction and clarity in my life in Jesus name. AMEN
